I wanted to like it, great cover!

I really wanted to like this book and I really tried to be positive about it. I think this book has a place and I just want to be clear on where that place is for potential buyers. First of all, if you are looking for a book that gives you any insight on what you need to do to find elk,this is not the book. What this book would be perfect for is, if you are planning on a guided trip only, and you know nothing about elk hunting, this is a great book packed with campfire type stories from the authors experiences in the past when elk hunting. There are way more personal stories that are really not educational than anything in the book. Very good fireside story book, but give you no practical knowledge about finding or hunting DIY elk. If you need to find elk, check out the jump start elk hunting book. Can't do any better for the money.

One giant brain dump on elk hunting...not that well structured or easy to read

This book is a hard read. Yes, it is crammed with a ton of information. The author is clearly knowledgeable about elk and hunting elk. But the book reads like a novel. Small typeface, very few illustrations, and the few pictures included look like they were taken in the 1970's - grainy and hard to see what the author is talking about. It reads like a novel; page after page and paragraph after paragraph of text. If you have the time and the patience to spend a few weeks reading this and think you can absorb everything, then by all means get this book. But if you need a reference, with easy to find and easy to digest information, keep looking.

This book is thick and heavy! It is full of a ton of in-depth information and is printed on high quality paper stock. I only rated it 3 stars since it was not exactly what I was hoping for. Too many "stories" in it for me. I wanted on target, here is what you do to prepare for elk hunting with out stories. I found the perfect book for me: Jumpstart Elk Hunting: The Everyday Hunters Guide, it is awesome!

About the Author
Dr. Eugene F. Brigham is Graduate Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Florida, where he has taught since 1971. Dr. Brigham received his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Brigham held teaching positions at the University of Connecticut, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of California-Los Angeles. Dr. Brigham has served as president of the Financial Management Association and has written many journal articles on the cost of capital, capital structure, and other aspects of financial management. He has authored or co-authored ten textbooks on managerial finance and managerial economics that are used at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and have been translated into 11 languages worldwide. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous electric, gas, and telephone rate cases at both federal and state levels. He has served as a consultant to many corporations and government agencies, including the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the U.S. Office of Telecommunications Policy, and the RAND Corporation. Dr. Brigham continues to teach, consult, and complete research in addition to his academic writing. He spends his spare time on the golf course, enjoying time with his family and dogs, and tackling outdoor adventure activities, such as biking through Alaska.

Joel F. Houston is the John B. Hall Professor of Finance at the University of Florida. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College. Prior to his appointment at the University of Florida, Dr. Houston was an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Joel's research is primarily in the areas of corporate finance and financial institutions, and his work has been published in a number of top journals including THE JOURNAL OF FINANCE, JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL ECONOMICS, JOURNAL OF BUSINESS, JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. Professor Houston also currently serves as an Associate Editor for the JOURNAL OF MONEY, CREDIT AND BANKING, the JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL SERVICES RESEARCH and the JOURNAL OF FINANCIAL ECONOMIC POLICY. Since arriving at the University of Florida in 1987, Joel has received 19 teaching awards, and has been actively involved in both undergraduate and graduate education. In addition to co-authoring leading textbooks in financial management, Dr. Houston has participated in management education programs for the PURC/World Bank Program, Southern Company, Exelon Corporation and Volume Services America. Joel enjoys playing golf and tennis and spending time with his wife (Sherry) and two children (Chris and Meredith). He is an avid sports fan who follows the Florida Gators, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Useful for Non-Finance Majors - A Keeper

The book is very useful. The examples are very clear. Additionally, in class we have also been using the materials online for quizzes which is really helpful if not time consuming. But the quizzes are very useful at demonstrating the material in the book. Sometimes, the quizzes online are not well worded but we discuss that with our professor.

Overall, the book is excellent. Very useful. Fairly easy to understand. It is a good introductory book for finance for non-finance majors.

I needed this book for class and it not only was the right one but it's actually useful. My teacher teaches from the board which can get confusing but this book really comes in handy when it comes learning finance. I have taught myself finance by reading this book alone. I would suggest this book to anyone either trying to learn finance or just relearning it.

Grade 6-8-Seventh-grader Maleeka Madison is miserable when a new teacher comes to her depressed inner-city school. Miss Saunders evidently is rich, self-assured in spite of the white birthmark across her black skin, and prone to getting into kids' faces about both their behavior and their academic potential. Black and bright, Maleeka is so swamped by her immediate problems that Miss Saunders's attentions nearly capsize her stability. The girl's mother has just emerged from a two-year period of intense mourning for her dead husband, during which time her daughter has provided her with physical and moral support with no adult assistance. At school, Maleeka endures mean-spirited teasing about the darkness of her skin and her unstylish clothing. She seeks solace in writing an extended creative piece, at Miss Saunders's instigation, and also in the company of a powerful clique of nasty girls. Told in Maleeka's voice, this first novel bristles with attitude that is both genuine and alarming. The young teen understands too well that her brains aren't as valuable as the social standing that she doesn't have. In the end, she is able to respond positively to Miss Saunders; she also becomes socially anointed through the affections of the most popular boy in the school. This message rings true in spite of the fact that Maleeka's salvation isn't exactly politically correct. Nice book

I purchased this book "The Skin I'm In" because I needed it for school. I have bought similar products before and have never been satisfied. I am so pleased with this purchase I made because the product exceeded my expectations. It performs very well and is constructed with quality materials. I will be definitely buying more in the future and will also recommend friends and family to buy this product. It has only been a few days since I use it but so far I do not have any complaints. The product was also very well packaged which protected it from shipping and handling damages.

Necessary Read

Maleeka Madison didn't always feel bad about herself. It was the taunting and teasing of her peers that caused her to feel like she was nothing because she had dark skin. Besides making fun of her complexion they teased her about her hair and her clothes and they even picked on her because the teachers liked her and because she got good grades. It seemed like there was nothing she could do to be accepted.
Then one day Maleeka created a fictional character for an English assignment. Eventually, this made up slave girl helps Maleeka find the courage to speak up for herself, demand respect and accept the skin she's in.
This story shows just how much some young people have to deal with and how cruel other young people can be. The message Flake makes very clear: Self acceptance is much more important than social acceptance.

About the Author
A man of many names, Xu Lei or Nanpai Sanshu or Kennedy Xu is at heart only one person―a storyteller. Nourished by myths and legends told to him by his grandmother, when he was still in the sixth grade he wrote a 40,000-word story starring his classmates as the heroes. As an adult, he was certain he could never make a living doing what he loved but he was mistaken. Adrenaline rush. Can't put down the book. With vivid imagination, reader might s*** in their pants out of fright. But unfortunately, sadly, the next book in the series, i.e volume 7 was not translated.

These books are really amazing! Couldn't stop till last one was completed. So many twisting plots and sudden findings - you will be startled and curious!
Recommend and waiting for the remaining ones to be translated.

I am hooked! I had already watched the Chinese drama "The Lost Tomb" and enjoyed it to so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it long after it was over,so I was itching to see what happens after season 1. The books are even better! I'm on volume 3 now. Finished the first two in 2 days. Yeah,you might call me obsessed;) My only fear is what will happen when I finish 6. There is no translation for 7 or 8! Maybe I need to learn Chinese lol
